Stay on Track

Stay on Track

BLOG - RAGS & G R A C E

Stay on track. Consistency is so rare, yet so vital in everything we do. Often times we lack consistency because our eyes wander. We keep our focus on everything else but the main target. This is where comparisons, doubt, weakness and insecurity tend to slip in. What if our eyes were fixed on what lies ahead. Would you stay on track if you weren’t looking at the girl next to you? Would you be more focused if you cared less about the whereabouts and accomplishments of others? By no way am I saying not to care about what others are achieving, but usually when we let our eyes linger onto those around us we stop what we are suppose to be working on. I can ramble on forever about girls who sit at home and compare their lives to those of girls on instagram. Admire others, but don’t let envy stop you from growing. I read a quote that said, “Don’t get sidetracked by people who are on track”.  Lets run the race together! My pastor Becca Turner said something truly life changing (I may have mentioned this before, but its so good I must share again!) “The only time you should be looking to your side is to cheer on the person next to you”. Where is the posture of you heart? To encourage or compare? To admire or evny? Let the posture of your heart be to cheer on those around you and celebrate their victories and not to let jealousy keep you from running the race.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. Hebrews 12:1

Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win!  All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.
